Welcome to the new "Artist's Circle Of Hell" editorial: a journey through the eyes and thoughts of magnificent Dark Artists.

Today we are delightful to talk with Rhiannon Watson. She's a self taught artist based out of Tennessee. Her original artworks are based on the occult, horror and death.

Enjoy the interview!

First circle - Limbo

How old is your soul? Do you have an inner child?

My soul is 21 years old, however I certainly have an inner child. I enjoy many cartoons, collecting figures and even some stuffed animals. I even sometimes use horror figures as inspiration for my artwork.

Second circle - Lust

Before you have reached your artistic path, have you ever instinctively tried different fields that did not appeal to you, just for the sake of it? Are you still in search for your art style?

Currently I do work in two other fields other than art; Anthropology and Entomology. They do however influence my work. I love incorporating what I have learned in those fields about bones and insects into some of my art pieces. My style differs as I experiment with many mediums, but I do think my artwork stays true to me even while I strive to learn more techniques and ways to express myself.

Third circle - Gluttony

How hungry are you for the art, for your passion? How much are you addicted and addicted to it, moving away from your perception of reality?

Very addicted, I often spend hours and hours each day working on artwork in some form. If I am not creating something, I am learning of something which will inspire more creativity.

Fourth circle - Greed

Sometimes, do you feel greedy with your job? Do you think that a strong attachment to money can compromise your art? No intention to offend, but only to explore what goes beyond being a "starving artist".

I usually feel that I only want my art to go to a good, forever home. A strong attachment to money could compromise art, when then people try to create what they think others may like instead of their own visions. In my opinion making efforts to create work solely for others takes the fun out of creating.

Fifth circle - Anger

How you see the Art World today? There are some stuff that make you uncomfortable?

Nothing that makes me uncomfortable, actually, what I see in the art world today is a lot of censorship of artists which we did not have in the past. Removal of works online even dating back to the 1800’s for nudity seems absurd to me. There should be more artistic expression of nudity, it is usually not intended to be sexual, just beautiful.

Sixth circle - Heresy

Have you ever done a project or commission totally different from your kind of art? (for example, as fairy art, erotic art, fantasy art or comic art)

Yes, the style was still mine however the subject matter was relating to astrology which is not seen in my work otherwise. It was however for a dear friend, so creating a different piece was a fun exercise.

Seventh circle - Violence

Are you afraid to represent cruel stuff of the reality in your art? If not, it goes beyond the simple visual impact?

No, I am not afraid. I think when people see cruel themes in artwork they often relate to it, and see a deeper meaning which makes the piece more special to them.

Eighth circle - Fraud

Without naming, have you ever been deceived by a false customer or company? What was your initial feeling? Do you want to give some advice to those who are new in this field? Don't worry if you do not want to answer.

I have not been deceived but I certainly have been disrespected. My advice to new artists is never do your work for free, this is not about being money hungry (as we spoke about earlier) as much as it is those who truly value your artwork will be willing to pay for it. While sometimes it seems like a good deal for connections or whatnot, a fee definitely shows who values you and who does not.

Ninth circle - Treachery

Would you ever exchange your life as artist with a safer and quieter life? What would you do if you could not make art?

I would never exchange my life as an artist, my work is something I have done to give something to the world, which will remain even when I am no longer here. If I could no longer make art I would perhaps focus more on Anthropology and Entomology.
