When she comes to she's laying on a bed there are leather straps around her wrist and feet and as she tries to move she feels their bite against her skin She looks around wildly daylight seeping in from closed blinds and bars on a small window to high for her to ever look out of It's not the same room from before the one where the man made her sleep though she can still smell the sent of bandages and old mattresses they cling to her nose make her mouth go dry "Water"- she whispers her throat aching matching the throbbing of her head and she sees movement out of the corner of her eye She was a slim woman in white with a clip board in her hands and something around her neck As the figure came closer to the bed she could feel her body tense the leather straps tightening as she leaned as far as she could away fear making it harder to breath "You've nothing to fear from me" the woman said and leaning forward she holds a cup with a straw in it gently touching the straw girl in the bed "Drink - and we can give you something for the pain." the woman continued a look of relief in her eyes when the straw was accepted greedily The cold water filled her mouth and she coughed slightly, thenk drank more almost emptying the cup she watched 'Nurse', for that was what she decided to name the woman as no name tag was readily evident - she watched 'Nurse' closely and gestured to the restraints "No - those must stay on for now" Nurse replied Nurse then checked her watch, only looking back when she could see the girl struggling more "You must stay calm or we will have to give you another shot" At this threat, the girl in the bed stopped closing her eyes she turns her face away from Nurse still trying to remember what happened She felt a touch on her hand and turned her head quickly, shying away as much as she could Nurse was still there, looking down at her now "I know you are scared and wondering where you are" Nurse said, her eyes strangly vacant more empty then the smile that followed "We have some questions for you, and you need to try very hard to answer them, okay?" The girl in the bed could tell this was less of a request than it seemed but she nodded slowly "Good" Nurse said, and sitting down on a chair almost out of eye sight, flipped some pages on her clipboard "You where found 3 nights ago in a shower in an apartment, do you remember?" The girl shifted in bed trying to see Nurse and shook her head She couldn't remember anything except being cold, very cold "Cold" she said, her voice hoarse and dry "I remember being cold" Nurse flipped another page and wrote something down then looked up and smiled that empty smile again "You where sitting under the running water apparently for a very long time. When they found you, your skin was blue." The girl shifted again, but this time not to see Nurse, rather because she could feel her skin crawling her heart was starting to race "I - I'm not feeling well" she said, her teeth chattering as her body starts to shake "Yes, yes - we know, but you must remember, okay?" Nurse said matter of factly and continued "You where sitting under the water and there was a lot of blood - do you remember the blood?" The girl stopped moving, her breath caught her in throat the tears coming again she could feel herself struggling in her head fighting off some image "I can't see, I can't see" she said, louder now "I can't let anyone see, please, no more" she begged the tears soaking her hair and cheeks Nurse got up from her chair and came into line of sight, looking down at the girl "That won't do - you said you'd try" her empty eyes staring "Tell me about the boy - " she said, quietly There was no response from the girl now no shaking no crying nothing She lay, looking up at the ceiling the white tiles and lights fading in and out "You must tell me now - who was he?" Nurse continued coming closer, leaning in The girl moved like a caged animal then pushing her head off the pillow as far as she could her teeth biting deep into Nurse's cheek and she could taste the metal of blood as it filled her mouth Nurse pulled back, screaming her hand to her face - her yells bringing a rush of people into the room and she disappered from the girl's sight in a tide of white uniforms and bodies Laying back, the girl let the blood flow from her mouth, spitting up what must have been part of Nurse's face She could hear the yells and words but none of them made sense as hands pushed her head down and a gag was put into her mouth a strap added to hold her head in place She watched without emotion as a needle pricked her arm mezmerised by the clear fluid flooding her veins And as the darkness started to come over her again she could feel herself smiling even as the tears kept falling and then ... nothingness

The Author
For "Into The Dark World" space, we are pleased to present you a new collaboration with TerriLynn Le Blanc, a wonderful poet that will bring us in a twisted land, full of emotions and darkness...
TerriLynn Le Blanc (aka Yvonne White) was born in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada in 1982. Her father's work made it necessary that her family move quite often throughout her childhood until they finally arrived in Lethbridge, Alberta in 1990. During her formative and teenage years, TerriLynn was prone to being
very introverted and enjoying her own company as opposed to others. This time allowed her to explore
her imagination, draw, and begin writing as well as delving into music.

She drifted in and out of creating stories and writing poetry as well as teaching herself to play piano, but eventually, she began to notice that her motivation for a lot of once enjoyable things was draining away. During her early twenties, things became apparent that not all was right in her mind and by the time she was 30 she had
been diagnosed with several different mental illness' which finally brought to light just why she felt like she was breaking apart and losing bits of herself slowly over time.
While endeavoring to find treatments for her disorders, TerriLynn picked up poetry writing again and found a release for a lot of the darkness she'd been hiding inside from when she was very young. She has since had two of her piece published and currently runs her own Facebook page with over 6,000 followers (to date) which she started in Aug 2017. From there, she continues to write every day, posting at least two new pieces a night all with the goal of reaching out to others who may be feeling what she's feeling and fighting to see the light of day in the dark. Her goal is to be a voice for those who can't express what they feel and to drive away the stigma behind mental illness.
"I want people to finally realize that it really is okay not to 'be okay' and that breaking can be
beautiful ... breathtakingly so." - TerriLynn Le Blanc
